Swimming In SVG

SVGSFThe St. Vincent and the Grenadines Swimming Federation(SVGSF) is the regulatory body of swimming and all aquatic sports in the state of St. Vincent & the Grenadines. Managed by an elite of executive members and with a systematic approach, SVGSF continues to develop and promote swimming, diving, water polo, synchronised swimming, aquatic sports and water safety. Our facilities have adapted to provide more opportunities for swimmers and coaches to participate and we aim to keep you updated of our press releases, swim events (local and national), clubs and aquatic sports.

History

Turn backThe St. Vincent and the Grenadines Swimming Federation (SVGSF) formerly known as S.V.G. Amateur Swimming Association was officially launched on the 22nd May 2010 with the 'Swim Fest 2010' event to mark the occasion. The organization was created by a dedicated group of individuals whom decided as another way for children to develop to revive swimming as a competitive and recreational sport.

Andre Cadogan, former President and the current Vice President led the association back then and with his team persuaded the Government to allow their Committee to repair, renovate and use an existing pool at the Shrewsbury House.

Stephen Joachim, our current President, convinced the Government that we were having a positive impact on our young people and by extension the community and that they need a larger pool to continue this work. Together Joachim and his team raised enough funds to build and manage what we know as the Shrewsbury Aquatic Center.

It was not long after our swimmers began to become more competitive at the OECS level attracting more attention and eventually funding towards the sport as success became more profound. With more recognition and attraction, he need to add facilities became evident and a small learn to swim/ cool down pool was added. With sufficient funds from a variety of sources we were able to enlarge the pool to the current 6 lanes and 25m length with the addition of change-rooms and viewing stands.

Over the years, we have managed to create a home for swimming, formed a national team, designed a swim program and had our clubs attend both regional and international swim meets. Through the continued support of our sponsors and supporters we have been able to host many competitions of our own. Growing steadily since 2011 and the number of our swimmers, coaches, supporters, technical officials and volunteers joining our family show that we, as a swim family and federation, are only getting stronger and even better. We have the determination, spirit and positive attitude to strive further.
