OECS 2014 Swimming Championships – SVG’s Best Ever!!

Team SVG sent a team of 31 swimmers to compete at the 24th OECS Swimming Championships held in St Lucia during the period November 7th to 9th, 2014. These Championships were the largest and most competitive OECS Swimming Championships ever held.

Team SVG returned with 35 medals, its largest medal haul ever in the 24 year history of the OECS Swimming Championships. Almost all SVG swimmers returned with improvements in their personal best times.

Summer Festival 2014 SVG team


Vincentian swimmers dominated the annual Summer Festival Swim Meet in St Lucia held August 21st to 24th, 2014. Nikolas Sylvester, Shane Cadogan, Shne Joachim and Alexander Joachim were all overall champions in their respective age groups.

Shne Joachim, with her coach Kyle Dougan, represented St Vincent and the Grenadines at the twentieth biennial Caribbean Islands Swimming Championships (CISC)‎ held in Barbados form June 26th to July 7th. CISC is a highly prestigious Swimming Championships and is held every two years. In the swimming world CISC is the next competitive level above Carifta.

St Vincent’s Black Sands Swim Squad takes the Gold in Barbados

Four Black Sands Swim Squad athletes, Shné and Alex Joachim, Justin and Nikolas Sylvester battled their way to more swimming success at the 23rd Annual Aquatic Center International Invitational in Barbados on 23rd – 25th May 2014. Eighteen clubs consisting of 319 top swimmers from the region took part in the event and SVG’s Black Sands swimmers were able to bring home a total fourteen medals whilst leaving  their SVG swimming talents stamped firmly in the Barbados record books.

SVG Swimmers make Vincentian history at CARIFTA Swimming Championships in Aruba

St Vincent and the Grenadines competed in the 2014 CARIFTA Swimming Championships held in Aruba from April 22nd to 26th.  The competition featured more than 300 of the best swimmers from over 18 Caribbean Countries including the Bahamas, Jamaica, Surinam, French Guyana, Trinidad, Martinique, Guadeloupe and Barbados.
