6 year old Kennice sets personal bests at RHAC Championships

6 year old Kennice Greene swam at the 15th annual RHAC Championships held in St Lucia April 10th to 13th, 2014. Kennice represented Blue Marlins Swim Club of St Vincent in the six years old and under category. Kennice swam in seven races and set personal best times in all events. She came third and won a bronze medal in the 50 Meter Freestyle event and was fourth in two other races.

St Vincent and the Grenadines was represented by two clubs, Black Sands Swim Squad (BSSS) and Blue Marlins (BM) at the 15th annual RHAC Championships held in St Lucia April 10th to 13th, 2014. The RHAC Championships featured over 350 swimmers representing 14 swim clubs from five Caribbean countries. SVG produced its best ever results at a major swim meet.
Blacksands swimmers produced outstanding performances and were led by Nikolas Sylvester, Shane Cadogan, Shné Joachim, Alexander Joachim and Dillon Gooding.

Shne Joachim smashes swim record

Junior Female Athlete of the Year 2013, Shne Joachim, swam her way further into the record books when she smashed the Barbadian national record in the 50m Breast Stroke event and almost broke that country’s national record for the 100m by 0.75 seconds.

22nd Annual OECS Swimming Championships

The hard work put in by the swimmers and coaches and the support of parents over the past twelve months have paid off. Swim Team SVG returned from Antigua yesterday following the completion of the 2012 OECS Swimming Championships. The swimmers are highly motivated after turning mostly their personal best times compared to last year’s OECS and prior meets attended during 2012.

Vita Malt Invitational Swim Meet

On Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th February 2012, St Vincent and the Grenadines Amateur Swimming Association (SVGASA) hosted their very first VITA MALT Invitational Swim Meet at the newly refurbished swimming pool at Shrewsbury House in Rathomill.
A total number of 36 swimmers took part in the exciting competition, with ages ranging from 8 years and under to the over 18 year old category and the SVGASA are proud to report that St.Vincent’s very own club, the “Blue Marlins” achieved first place, scoring the highest points in the competition, beating the two invited top clubs from Grenada, “Grenfin” and the “Dolphins” and also St Vincent’s newly formed club, “Black Sands Swim Squad”.

21st Annual OECS Swimming Championships

Team SVG returned home on Sunday evening following a well fought, three day battle at the 21st annual OECS Swimming Championships held in St Lucia from 4th – 6th November.
Up against strong teams from Antigua, BVI, Grenada and St Lucia, team SVG knew they had to swim their best, and that’s exactly what they did with thirteen of the twenty three swimmers achieving personal best times.

Barbados recently held their National Swimming Championships competition where Kyle Dougan, proudly representing St Vincent & the Grenadines, won four gold medals and received a trophy for the highest scoring international swimmer in his age group.
Dougan is a seasoned swimmer who formerly competed at an international level whilst living in the UK. He is now living in St Vincent and is a floor member of the current SVGASA Executive Council. Dougan feels very strongly about promoting the sport of swimming in SVG and is currently coaching and teaching the sport and he believes that St Vincent has the potential of producing the Usain Bolt of the swimming world.
