Shne Joachim Medals at the Caribbean Islands Swimming Championships (CISC)

Shne Joachim, with her coach Kyle Dougan, represented St Vincent and the Grenadines at the twentieth biennial Caribbean Islands Swimming Championships (CISC)‎ held in Barbados form June 26th to July 7th. CISC is a highly prestigious Swimming Championships and is held every two years. In the swimming world CISC is the next competitive level above Carifta.

 

The CISC included Carifta teams (such as Aruba, Jamaica, Trinidad, Bahamas and Barbados) plus Cuba, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Honduras, Guatemala, Suriname, Bermuda and Costa Rica. The event featured over 270 of the best swimmers in the entire Caribbean and was an official Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games qualifier.

In a very tough competition Shné won the silver medal for second place in the 50 Meter Breaststroke. She also swam faster than the previous record. Shné also won the bronze medal after placing third in the 100 Meter Breaststroke event. 

Swimming will be well represented at the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland later in July. The swim team forms part of the SVG national team and the swimmers will be coached by Kyle Dougan.

The swim team comprises Storm Halbich, Nikolas Sylvester, Dillon Gooding, Shane Cadogan, Adora Lawrence and Shné Joachim. We wish our swimmers well and are confident they will give their best efforts and make us all proud.
