DO AND DON’TS
BE MINDFUL
- Social Media should always be positive and entertaining. Try to give back to the community.
- Give credit where its due and whenever you can.
- Respect your audience and KEEP IT CLEAN!
SHARE, SHARE AND SHARE!!
- The most successful posts are questions or convey a sense of wonder and appreciation.
- Take time to read other people’s content. Share it, Tweet it, Re-post it, Follow it, LIKE IT! You get the idea…
- Interaction is key. Socialize. Make a Friend. Find an Interest.
Be A Team Player
- Know your boundaries-This is quite simple. Don’t CROSS the LINE! Social Media may be online but rules in the real world still apply. Here’s a list of things you should never do:
- Bullying
- Plagerize
- Spam
- Gossip
- Threats
- Be smart- If you think you’re doing something wrong, STOP. I am referring to those that post personal info, inappropriate things(comments, photos), and meet with the wrong crowd. Why do it online if you don’t in real life?
- Be the bigger person. Sometimes ignorance is bliss but life is unpredictable so expect alot of surprises. So when you see something you absolutely hate or some individual decides to mess with you: KEEP CALM! Fighting with anger can only get you so far before you suffer the consequences. Tell a friend. Set the person straight or ignore them.
- Be considerate: DO NOT BE BORING. INFORMATION MUST BE ACCURATE. NO BRAGGING. ASK FOR PERMISSION FIRST, GET IT RIGHT. NO OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE. SOMETHINGS ARE BEST LEFT UNSAID. THINK BEFORE YOU POST.
- Take a class/Give a lesson: Now don’t laugh but the next line is very true. “I don’t know how to use social media.” Long ago this was you but you learned either by stranger or a friend. Enough said, take time to help those new to our world. Show them the benefits and cons. Pinpoint to useful resources. And when you’re done you may learn something in return.
- Be original: What inspires you may become the life source of another. Have a goal and make the best of it. “Only you can control your future.”
