More records Broken at Recent Time Trials.
A total of three National records were broken by Black Sands Swim Squad (BSSS) swimmers at the recent time trials hosted by the SVG Swimming Federation which was held on 20th and 21st May 2022.
In the boys 13-14 age group, Carifta 2022 Bronze medalist Brandon George destroyed the 100m backstroke record by 2.3 seconds, swimming a time of 1:01.57. The record was previously held by Nikolas Sylvester in a time of 1:03.87. Close on his heels was teammate Matthew Ballah, who swam a record-breaking time of 1:02.68 and taking second place.
In the Girls 13-14 age group, Kennice Greene smashed the 50m freestyle record in a time of 27.13 seconds, previously held by Shne Joachim in a time of 27.25 seconds.
Kenale Alleyne, swimming in the Boys 15 and over age group also beat the current 100m freestyle record in a time of 53.01 seconds, the record was previously held by Shane Cadogan in a time of 53.48 seconds at the OECS Championships in 2020.
Kentreal Kydd, St. Vincent’s up and coming Paralympic swimmer managed to improve his times in both the 50m and 100m freestyle.
A total of forty-nine swimmers from BSSS took part in the time trials, fifteen of which took part for the first time and many personal best times were achieved by other swimmers. The next National competition for BSSS swimmers will be at the Gallagher Swimming Championships in August.
