Bequia’s swim team, Rising Stars hosted the 2019 Open Water swim race on Good Friday. Seven BSSS swimmers competed in races varying from the 375m, 750m and 1500 meter distances.
Scarlett Hadley swam in the 375m race in the girls 12 and Under category, proudly coming first winning herself a gold medal. Her brother, Joseph Hadley also swam the same distance in the boys 12 & Under category winning himself a silver medal.
Next was the 750m distance and it was Black Sands’ Dariana Des Vignes who put up a strong fight and came in second winning a silver medal.
Open Water specialist Cruz Halbich dominated the 1500m race and was awarded the gold medal and his team mate, Kenale Alleyne came in third winning the bronze. Also taking part were BSSS swimmers Alexander Cyrus and Tristan Ballah.
